Accuracy
A properly conducted DNA paternity test at an AABB-accredited lab is 99.99%+ accurate for inclusion and definitive at 0% for exclusion. The 0.01% is a statistical convention — 100% would require ruling out every human on earth. When errors occur, they trace almost entirely to sample mix-ups or unaccredited labs, never to the science.
34 markers, run twice
We analyze 34 Short Tandem Repeat (STR) markers — highly variable regions of human DNA specifically chosen for their power in paternity testing. Every sample is processed through PCR amplification and capillary electrophoresis, then reviewed by two independent technicians. Both must agree before a result is released.
Why STR markers are so definitive
STRs are the same markers used by the FBI's CODIS database, U.S. courts, immigration authorities, and forensic labs worldwide. The odds of two unrelated men matching a child at all 34 markers by chance are lower than 1 in 100 trillion. That's why inclusion results are stated as 99.99%+ and exclusions are stated as 0% (mathematically definitive).
Our error-prevention process
- Every sample is barcoded on arrival — samples are handled by barcode, not by name
- Two independent technicians run analysis and must agree
- Ambiguous markers trigger automatic re-testing at no cost
- Every report is reviewed and signed by the lab director before release
- Cold storage of samples for 90 days allows re-testing if there's ever a question
Accreditations
Our partner laboratory holds every credential U.S. courts, USCIS, and Social Security accept:
Meets the standard required by U.S. courts for legal paternity testing.
International accreditation for laboratory testing competence.
Federal quality standards for clinical laboratory testing.
College of American Pathologists proficiency verification.
Why home kit results equal lab-drawn results
Cheek swabs (buccal cells) contain identical DNA to any other cell in the body. There is no accuracy difference between a swab-collected sample and a blood-drawn sample. This is why courts and USCIS accept AABB-accredited swab-based testing — the science is not affected by the collection method.
